For the last six months I've had this song
rolling around in my head, wanting to use it for something
feminine but "not" so feminine. Does that make sense? Right. I
didn't think so. Let me try and explain.
(you know it has to do with a movie, don't
you? LOL there's always a movie involved...)
The movie, Always has been a favorite
of mine for YEARS. It's tender but has rough edges but most of
all it has a good ending (THE most important quality of ANY
movie, hand's down). Always, if you haven't seen it, is a
must-see no matter WHAT season of life you're in. It's sweet and
precious (my too overly-used word, but I don't care).
Holly Hunter (as Dorinda) with her short
stature and crooked smile steals the movie. There's a scene in
the movie where her boyfriend (Richard Dreyfuss) gives her a
present of "girl-clothes" and they begin dancing to this song.
For some reason I just felt like this song would fit perfectly
to the movie and so... here it is. I hope you like it. Remember
to see Always if you get a chance and if you have seen
it, you know how great it is despite a few tears and tissues...
the ending is sweet.

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by The Platters
* * *
They asked me how I knew
My true love was true
Oh, I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied
They said someday you'll find
All who love are blind
Oh, when your heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes
So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away
I am without my love
Now laughing friends deride
Tears I can not hide
Oh, so I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes
Smoke gets in your eyes
